I'm not a huge fan of using "S" hooks on the bottom of a hood - not wanting to drill holes, and having to fumble with hooking it up (and staying there).......Has any one used the woods suction cup type with a strap and ring or the newer padded "T" handle looking thing with the curved hook attached to a ring ? I'm thinking of buying one, but want the best.

I look at them as a tool to use IF I HAVE TO!! They flex a lot and it takes twice the pressure to make the same push. You better attach a rag to the stud, too, because the graumits scratch the paint on the edge of the panel, if you have one of the ones with graumits throughout the strap. Also wear a "mouthguard" for your teeth. If the cup pulls off the hood it will hit you in the face!! This I know from experience!! Play the "tooling" vid from the online class, again. The "s" hook assembly I'm using is specially designed that the s hook is the largest it can be to go through holes from hod pad clips. Otherwise, PDR finesse (Ike) has what he calls a "gutter-hook" tool. The new ones are too big (tell him I told you to say that ;D ), but the older ones are the right size. Those work great on the side of a hood!

Thanks Keith - exactly what I was looking for - I'll give Ike a call and ask if he has any of the older ones left. I'm going to get some of his door tools - the ones on your video. I'll be sure to mention your name and this site. Bob

Thanks! I already talked to him about the gutter hook tool and how the new ones were too big. Also ask him how the "KDP1" is coming! It is a special fender tool that he has that I consulted with him on new improvements: shorten tool, add interchangeable tips and a stud on each side of the tool, near the handle, to screw on two other common tips that a tech would want to use with this tool. He loved all the imporvements and told me he was gonna change the tool stock number to "kdp1" Do it. Realy. He'll wonder how you got that info! ;D
