If you are looking to keep your newly minted tools from bending try heating them to a cherry red glow then quench in water. Then reheat them to a faint red glow and quench them in a bucket of oil (used motor oil will work). This process should result in a "Spring Steel" tool when done. Depending on the carbon content of the steel you are using the "glow" when heating the second time for the oil quench may need to be experimented with a bit to achieve the results you are looking for. Try using scraps to test before investing a lot of time fashioning a tool.

I have some homemade hand tools made from titanium - I always thought they would kick ass with the drive, but I actually do prefer a little flex as I tend to over-drive with these...I understand your problem with finding a happy medium. By the way, Welcome Aboard !!!
