Last week I lost my younger brother who was only 54 years old. He was a successful businessman retiring at the age of 52. We used to joke that "Time is Money" and a guy had to make sure he was compensated for time spent performing work for someone. Believing that time is money means that an hour of your time is worth a specific dollar figure....right? ---- WRONG - A better analogy would be ....Time is Priceless.... You can't put a price on the time you spend with your family and friends. And you can't spend much time with those people if you are always working hours on end just to scratch out a living. Just some food for thought as you bid your next job.

Bob, I am sorry for your loss bro. I know it is tough, be strong, you absolutely right about time is priceless... We have only so much time on this earth so we should make the very best out of every day. One of the main reasons I quit managing a body shop was I was killing myself through stress and anxiety. Self employment has many upsides, like being able to spend time with our 3 year old daughter in the mornings. Be safe and keep pushing!

Thanks guys this was quite a shock, and also an eye opener. As Kirk said - self employment has many upsides, but the number one reason should be to earn a higher income......because with that you can comfortably do more things with your family and friends.
This experience has personally made me set my financial goals higher. If you are not making the money you need, you are not working hard enough/ fast enough/ or smart enough.

"...smart enough" is the toughest to fix.
