Hi all,
I have been pondering about this for quite some time and I would love to get some response from actual techs.
Is PDR still a profitable business to get in to ? As a tech in South-africa I'm kind of having my doubts because there is a surprisingly large amount of techs here and jobs are pretty touch and go.
I can understand that because the country hasn't really had a "hail season" as of yet, I remember 2 years ago in the hail season I heard of techs making extremely large amounts of money chasing hail, but with the amount of technicians now I think that might have changed.
Last, I have considered trying to work abroad but the market is flooded especially in the U.S.A, so has PDR finally caught on aand now becoming a common trade ? Or can someone still make a decent living off of it ?
Please give me your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
Regards Philli p

These are "my" first thoughts off the top of my head:
It depends on how "rounded" of a tech you are.
...what your biz plan is... who you know and lastly, how much money you got.

The time it takes to gain the skill to complete near perfect repairs is more than most people realize. Getting to the point where a person can make a decent living does not come fast. PDR will never be a common or easily learned trade.

Hi all this is my first post for quite a while, I was using an iphone which was great but now ive got an android and its not quite so forum friendly. a couple of points in answer to the question re making money in pdr. IMO yes there is money to be made but the trade market is fast getting whored out. There are a large number of new techs and techs that dont keep up with what can be achieved and they are cutting price which makes it hard. HOWEVER if you ae prepared to get really good then there is still good money to be made in the retail market BUT only if you can make a dent dissapear. 95% is just not good enough
